Student Top Attractions in Windsor
The town of Windsor is home to Windsor Castle; a royal home for over 900 years, the town contains many historic buildings and also Windsor Great Park, once a royal hunting ground which stretches for several miles south of Windsor Castle. Eton is a smaller town dominated by Eton College, the ancient public school which educates many of England’s establishment.
Included in the tour is return travel by coach and an experienced tour guide doing a walking tour with you. On the tour you will see the River Thames with its beautiful scenery and wildlife including Her Majesty’s white Swans and also geese and ducks and other birds. You have the opportunity to visit Windsor Castle, the Queens favourite home and where she spends many weekends. This has an entrance cost you can pay on the day approx £16. On many days you will have the chance to see the Changing of the Guard with marching band and soldiers outside Windsor Castle (depending on date and circumstances). Also in Windsor is the former home of Shakespeare where he lived while writing “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, and the splendid Town Hall, now a museum, designed by Sir Thomas Fitz and finished by Sir Christopher Wren and the famous Crooked House of Windsor.
Windsor Castle is one of the three official residences of the Queen, when the Queen is at ‘home’ the royal standard flies from the top of the Round Tower. At all other times you will see the Union Flag. Windsor Museum comprises a collection of over 6,300 objects from the Bronze Age to the present day including maps, books, and paintings. Every other Saturday you will be able to see the Queen’s guard and band march through the centre of the town.
Visit Eton and see one of England’s most prestigious and expensive schools where Prince William and Prince Harry were educated and many Prime Ministers such as David Cameron.
